• Tina Royles domestic violence expert looks at American rapper’s domestic violence charges

US rapper ’50 Cent’ also known as Curtis Jackson has been dropped as the All-Star Major League Football headlining entertainer in New York City.

Rapper 50 Cent was scheduled to perform at the event last week at the All-Star event but was cancelled.

He was charged with four counts of domestic violence towards an ex-girlfriend, although it’s not clear if this is the reason that his performance at this high profile event was cancelled. He has denied the charges and also four counts of vandalism, and no arrests have yet been made.

I feel that this case, and others like it, reinforces how domestic violence can and often does continue once a relationship is over, and how pivotal it is to put the appropriate safety and support measures in place.

It also shows how children can be used as pawns to inflict more upset and anguish.

Domestic violence has no boundaries, perpetrators can come from any walk of life, the same as victims, lets hope that justice prevails.
